8M: the role of women in the technology of the future

On September 25, 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and set as goal number 5 gender equality and empower all women and girls.
Today, March 8, 2022,
How close or far are we from meeting that goal? What if we focus on the IT sector?
Differentiating between gradual improvement and total equality leads us to a conclusion, namely that although every year women increase in the technology sector, we are still far from achieving gender equality or parity. The technology sector is still mostly male and the presence of women is still below 30%, only 25% study STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and the figures still decrease more if we look at the female representation on boards of directors.
We certainly have a long way to go.
How can we boost the role of women in the IT sector?
The incorporation of women into the IT sector should not remain an unresolved issue, it is necessary to create measures that include them but also allow them to develop and grow in the technology sector.
DIVERSITY: create more inclusive and multidisciplinary innovation ecosystems.
CONCILIATION and labor flexibility.
CO-RESPONSIBILITY: open the debate to women and men in order to find a lasting solution through a collective intelligence.
MERITOCRACY: defend, recognize and promote equal opportunities and transparent selection processes.
LEADERSHIP: betting on the training and training of female talent, mentoring, creating leadership and empowerment programs for women, opening boards of directors to executives that may imply a change in power hierarchies.
DIGITAL ECONOMY: build new references and economic models.
GROWTH: Promote the relationship between better and greater inclusion of women in the ICT sector and economic-business growth.
EDUCATION: Promote STEM vocations from primary education, detect and validate STEM talent in the family and educational environment.
VOCATION: to promote the vocation of women for scientific-technological careers.
VISIBILITY: Contribute to the visibility of successful female professionals within the STEM sector.
Women and the technology of the future
We can adapt to a world created by and for the male gender or do things differently and be creators of the technological future.
Digital Transformation needs women to occupy a central and protagonist position. We must turn technology into an element of equality and an opportunity to have a greater social balance.
