Cybersecurity: the other side of the war in Ukraine

“Ukrainian cybercommunity! It’s time to participate in our country’s cyber defense.” Yegor Aushev, Co-founder Cyber Unit Technologies & Cyber School. Let’s talk about cybersecurity.
The current war in Ukraine puts cybersecurity back at the center of today. According to alert AA22-047A sent by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) of the United States, one of the threatened environments is the Windows 365 universe.
The NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) has advised organizations to act after the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine by Russia and recommends companies to follow very precise indications in cases such as the current one, where the cyber threat increases exponentially.
What do you advise us to improve the security of our companies?
Balance cyber risk and defense. We must strike a balance between the threat, the measures to defend against it, the cost of those measures and the risk it may pose to the entire company.
Take into account the factors that affect an organization’s cyber risk. The increase in risks that affect the security of a company can be the result of geopolitical tensions such as those that are occurring in the current landscape. Although companies will have little influence on the reduction of these risks, it is intended to reduce their vulnerability, with respect to attack and impact.
Among the actions we can take to improve our security are:
- Verify the patching of the Systems
- Verify access controls
- Ensure the security of defenses
- Control logging and monitoring
- Review backups
- Develop an incident plan
- Check your online footprint
- Phishing Responses
- Access to third parties
- NCSC Services
- Inform the entire company
