Face Mirroring: application for treatment of facial paralysis patients
Together with the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), we developed an application that facilitates the treatment of patients affected by facial paralysis. In collaboration with the physiotherapist at Bellvitge Hospital, our R&D team devised a system that, based on the ‘mirror technique’, uses a front camera that shows the patient’s ‘falsified’ face to help with rehabilitation exercises. At the same time, this camera monitors several facial points in each session to evaluate the evolution of the therapy.
Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB) is one of the 5 hospitals in Catalonia accredited as a hospital of maximum complexity. It is a tertiary territorial reference center for the entire Southern Catalonia axis, up to the Ebro region, and a hospital of proximity and territorial reference for the municipalities of L’Hospitalet and El Prat de Llobregat. It is a reference center for transplants, diagnostic imaging, cardiac, digestive and thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, ophthalmology and psychiatry. It has been awarded on several occasions with the TOP20 award, which recognizes it as one of the best centers in Spain in the category of regional and national reference hospitals.
