In a sector as competitive as the insurance sector, technological innovation and flexible collaboration models are increasingly decisive. Txema Salabert knows this reality from two angles: as Director of Organisation at Pasiona and as Manager at Grupo Occident. His experience on both sides of the table has allowed him to identify valuable learnings on leadership, trust and how to align business and technology.

-Txema, you wear the double hat of Organisational Director at Pasiona and Manager at Grupo Occident. What lessons do you learn from leading this collaboration from both sides?

-Leading from both sides has allowed me to have a 360° view of the projects. As Organisational Director, I understand Pasiona’s internal dynamics, talent management and value delivery. As a manager at Occident, I understand the client’s needs, business priorities and culture. This dual role has taught me that organisational empathy is key: knowing how to translate strategic objectives into viable technology solutions, without losing sight of the team’s well-being and the client’s trust.

-What does a case like Occident’s demonstrate about the value of relying on external technology partners?

-Occident’s case shows that relying on a technology partner like Pasiona is not only efficient, but strategic. We have provided specialisation, agility and adaptability, without losing alignment with the client’s values and objectives. This collaboration has allowed Occident to accelerate its digital transformation, without assuming the structural costs of an internal team, but with the same level of commitment and excellence.

-Passiona works with flexible collaboration models (staff augmentation, dedicated teams, outsourcing). What does this flexibility bring to an insurance client like Occident?

-Flexibility is key in an industry like insurance, where business cycles and priorities can change rapidly. At Occident we have applied hybrid models that allow us to scale teams, incorporate specialised profiles or take on end-to-end projects as needed. This has given the client a responsiveness that would be difficult to achieve with rigid structures, while maintaining quality and traceability.

Coordinating large-scale projects in such a competitive sector must not be easy. What role does technological innovation play in the company’s ability to maintain its differential advantage?

-Technological innovation is the engine that allows us to differentiate ourselves in a saturated market. At Pasiona we have promoted solutions based on AI, process automation and Cloud architecture that not only improve efficiency, but also generate new business opportunities. Innovation is not just about applying technology, it is about doing it with purpose, aligned with the client’s strategy and with measurable impact.

How do you balance the demands of business with the well-being of the team?

-Balance is achieved through active listening and conscious leadership. I firmly believe that team well-being is not at odds with operational excellence. I know the inside of Occident well, and after the 20 years that I have been working with Occident in one way or another, I believe that the most important thing is to create an environment where professionals feel part of the project, integrated into the client’s teams, with autonomy, recognition and opportunities for growth. All this translates into commitment, quality and continuity, which in the end is beneficial for the professional, the client and Pasiona.

-For an IT professional joining Pasiona, what unique opportunities does working on a strategic project like Occident offer?

-Working at Occident means being part of a real transformation project, with a direct impact on the business. Professionals have the opportunity to work in a large organisation, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, work using agile methodologies and, above all, put their previously acquired knowledge into practice in real projects. In addition, the environment is demanding but very human, which allows them to grow professionally in all senses.

-Looking to the future, what challenges and exciting goals do you see in the collaboration between Occident and Pasiona?

-The future lies in consolidating what we have built and continuing to evolve together. Challenges include the adoption of new technologies, continuous process improvement and the expansion of collaboration into new business areas. Our goal is for Pasiona to continue to be a strategic partner for Occident, not only in services, but in innovation, talent and vision.
