The seed of Tech4Cambodia pays off: go for the second edition!

Equipo Comunicacion 01/08/2019

A year ago we started the #Tech4Cambodia project and we are at the gates of the second edition. In August 2018, we landed at the Llar d’Infants del Món Cambodja with the purpose of bringing technology to the students that the NGO serves in the small community of Rohal.

Ten days of training in robotics for both students and teachers of the Llar with the mission of planting a seed. Mission accomplished: after the passage of our colleague and head of UX, Clara Planet, by the Llar d’Infants, training became another subject in the curriculum. Seed planted and fruit that begins to grow: we are at the gates of the second edition of the course.

The robots of this second course of #Tech4Cambodia are already in Rohal for the second edition of the course, which will take place from next August 26. In this second level, the keys of the STEAM method will be addressed, with which students take reflective risks, participate in experiential learning and persist in problem solving, working through the creative process. It combines different disciplines ranging from science to art through technology, engineering or mathematics. The project is part of the actions of RST (Technological Social Responsibility) promoted by Pasiona with the aim of contributing our grain of sand to a better world.

#Tech4Cambodia is a high impact educational project promoted by Pasiona and through which robotics training is provided. A program that includes everything from mathematics to teamwork. The course is aimed at teachers and young students between 15-18 years of the school of the Llar d’Infants del Món in Cambodia . We bring technology to those who do not have access to it, we motivate students to be interested in disciplines such as mathematics or technology, and we provide them with the necessary skills to face their future professional career on equal terms. So that they are masters of their own future.

There are 3 fundamental keys to understanding the project:
Motivation. We help them better understand mathematics, physics and technology, subjects that they usually do not like and with which they usually feel uncomfortable. We try to pique their interest through the assembly and programming of LEGO robots, technology they have never seen or handled before.
Development. Creativity, imagination, motor and cognitive skills and student thinking. The program seeks to foster self-esteem, collaboration, teamwork and empowerment.
Continuity. Sowing the seed of a project with a vocation for continuity. The teachers of the Llar d’Infants are being trained to be able to follow the training throughout the course, incorporating robotics as another subject in the lesson plan. Currently PIP Shitong, professor of the technical area, continues to teach robotics classes as another subject in the school to the students of the Llar d’Infants del Món Camboya.
